Our office has recently discovered an increasing number of patients with non-traditional “health coverage”. Some are not even real insurance and is stated as such on the cards the patients are receiving. People are typing in “NYS insurance” or “marketplace” in their internet search bar and the first couple sites that pop up take you to brokers that sell you plans that are NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. They are a reimbursement plan that offers minimal coverage.

If you are looking on the marketplace for insurance, trying to switch plans or looking for new Medicare Options, please check with the local insurance companies for available options. (example: Highmark BCBS, Independent Health)
